As individuals with disabilities consider and pursue competitive, integrated employment (CIE) options, they need to have access to accurate information to help them prepare financially for the influx of new income.
Developing an individual budget, projecting ahead to avoid surpassing income limits associated with publicly financed health care and benefits, building assets, and saving for the future are just a few issues individuals with disabilities and their families must contend with. Without appropriate information and tools, individuals with disabilities may be discouraged from pursuing employment.
This webinar will showcase promising practices that grantees have identified in supporting individuals with disabilities to work and advance economically without jeopardizing access to necessary benefits like Social Security, Medicaid-financed health care and long-term supports and services.
Panelists will share examples of useful financial literacy tools and resources as part of the career planning and employment preparation process, building assets to achieve optimal economic advancement, and utilizing key savings vehicles like the ABLE Accounts and other consumer products to prepare for the future.
