NH Childcare Scholarship helps families pay for child care. There are 11 District Offices in NH that help families apply for childcare assistance. Parents must be working, looking for work, or in a training program. Gross family income is used to determine eligibility. Gross family income must not exceed 220% of the federal poverty guidelines. If you receive Financial Assistance to Needy Families (FANF) and are in the FANF work program, you are eligible for the NH Child Care Scholarship. It is important for you to know that children may be placed on a waitlist for childcare assistance.

An application is obtained through the local District Office (page 121) or through NH EASY (https://nheasy.nh.gov).

The CCLU ensures that children attending NH child care programs are in safe and healthy environments and are provided with care, supervision, and developmentally appropriate activities that meet each child’s physical and emotional needs through on-site evaluations, monitoring, and investigations that ensure compliance with applicable NH Statutes and Administrative Rules, approval and issuance of licenses, and Initiation of appropriate disciplinary action when necessary for compliance and the protection of children.

CCLU licenses seven categories of child care programs: Family Child Care Homes, Family Group Child Care Homes, Group Child Care Centers, Child Care Nurseries, School-Age Programs, Night Care Programs, and Residential Child Care Programs.

Child Care Aware

Child Care Aware of New Hampshire provides FREE and confidential referrals tailored to the needs of each individual family seeking child care. They also provide families with consumer education to assist them in choosing a quality childcare program. Child Care Resource and Referral Outreach Specialists assist families in identifying childcare opportunities in their area.

Childcare Providers provide quality professional developmental opportunities and technical assistance services to improve program quality and increase teacher competency.
