Under the NH Department of Safety, the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services has various functions. These include the dissemination of public education and information relative to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Statewide Trauma System. The Bureau is responsible for managing the training, testing, and licensing of EMS providers, units, instructors, training agencies, EMS dispatchers, and EMS vehicles, including wheelchair vans. (Law: RSA 153-A) (Rules: Saf-C 5900) It is also responsible for facilitating the establishment and maintenance of a communications network that includes citizen access, EMS Units, healthcare facilities, local, EMS Regional Councils, county and state agencies.
